The event is the first since the controversial UFC 167 pay-per-view that saw Georges St. Pierre retain his welterweight crown in a hotly-disputed decision over Johny Hendricks. After the matchup St. Pierre even hinted at retirement, which drew the ire of UFC president Dana White. There has been no word on whether or not the champion will indeed fight again, but reports have surfaced that St. Pierre is dealing with the death of his father and an unplanned pregnancy.
The Ultimate Fighter Finale will be headlined by a rematch between lightweights Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz. Both men have fought each other twice, with both wining a bout. Entering this Saturday’s matchup, Maynard is a small favorite over the Cesar Gracie fighter, and is expected to be able to outwrestle and bully Diaz.
As for the TUF finale, Jessica Rakoczy will face off against Julianna Pena, while over on the men’s side Davy Grant will face Chris Holdsworths. The odds for both fighters are off the board as of Thursday morning. Here is a quick look at the rest of the TUF Finale fight card.
