We might have jumped the gun a bit on writing off Tiger Woods after he grimaced on several occasions during round 1. His 68 on Friday silenced any doubts I had, as he sits just one off the leaders at 2-under par.
Woods shot 3-over on his first nine (back) which led most to believe he was done. Then the inhuman version of Eldrick teed off on the back (front nine) and a near record setting performance was made. Birdie, birdie, par, birdie, birdie. 4-under through the first five holes. Five birdies in total, one shy of Vijay Singh's US Open nine hole record.
Yeah, he's fine.
As for the overhyped Woods vs Mickelson pairing, Left isn't keeping pace. His 75 yesterday puts him in a tie for 35th.
Tiger tees off in the second to last pairing at 5:50 ET. Feel free to chat up some golf today, what else do you have to do?
