US Open Tennis: Henin Beats Serena Williams, Roger Federer to Beat Andy Roddick Tonight
READ MORE:
One semifinalist is already set, while the rest of the quarterfinal matches will begin today.

Last night Justine Henin worked over Serena Williams with some of her best tennis 7-6, 6-1. This sets up what will inevitably be the Women's Championship in the Semi-Finals with Henin taking on Venus Williams (assuming a win over Jankovic) who might be the only one playing better than Justine right now.

The other women's quarters match up some relative unknowns despite their seeding: Agnes Szavay v. Svetlana Kuznetsova (4), and Anna Chekvetadze (6) v. Shahar Peer (18).

The matchup we've all been waiting for since the draw was released will come later tonight on Arthur Ashe Court. Andy Roddick v. Pong. If Roddick were playing his best tennis he'd have a hard time beating Roger Federer, and Andy hasn't exactly impressed thus far through 4 rounds.

Anyone giving Roddick a chance?

That's great for Justine, Serena is a great player. Those two girls will be 30 when they meet "Ty Ana Williams" out there, if they are still playing. Ty Ana Williams is always the smaller of the two players when she plays, but like Justine; and 2x as good she packs a powerful punch!!!! See you in the 2012 US OPEN!!!!!!!  Ty Ana Williams

I am so HAPPY Jusitne won! I can't stand either Williams sister! Great tennis players, I am not taking anything away from their abilities, I simply cannot stand them! There is just something about them (and no it is not their respective tennis success, I am not one of those) that I cannot quite put my finger on, but I have never liked them!

I am pulling for Roddick, and if he wins it will be in 5 sets. However, he hasn't really played at the top of his game yet, and well .... Federer looks unstoppable!

I believe what you are looking for is lack of respect for their opponents game.  I believe Serena is more obvious about it than Venus.  It is never she did an excellent job, it is always I played badly or I could have done this better.  It is always they beat themselves instead of admitting that they were beaten.

Giving credit when credit is due, that shows how much class you have.  Federer does it no matter what.  If he loses, he compliments his opponent, when he wins, he compliments his opponent.  Modesty and humility.  Is this it?  I know that this is my problem not only with them, but with sports in general.  Admit when you are beaten and give credit when it is due.

I would like to say that Andy will win, but I still think that Novak Djokovic has the best chance to unseat Roger. Andy does have the killer serve.

That is it exactly!

If Andy can get his "total" game together in 1 match, he could beat Federer. It is almost like Andy gives up during matches if he feels he doen't want to exert himself. One minute his serve is great, and then his back hand sails on him and he doesn't try to correct it. Or his serve is off, and his forearm is hitting cross court angles like Andre Agassi. He is just not consistent lately!

Glad I could help!

I agree with you on Andy, just needs to put all together and he would be a force.  The thing is as much as I want to see someone else win a men's slam, I absolutely am glued to the TV when Roger plays.  He makes it looks so easy and some of his shots and the way he thinks 4 shots ahead is so un-nerving yet I can't turn away.  I can't also not root against or for him.
