When Ana and Maria win, you win.
The first round of the US Open is complete, and although I'm a little depressed Tatiana Golovin left far too soon, all the names you want to see alive have moved on.
The most entertaining match was last night's between good friends Andy Roddick and Justin Gimelstob. Gimel's 30-years-old and had announced prior to the tournament that this was his last US Open, so it was a little bittersweet for Roddick to have to be the one to send him home.
The moment of levity came during the second set when a large group of US Marines exited center court, drawing an extended ovation from the patriotic crowd. Upon a return to action, the umpire gave Gimelstob a service penalty for delaying the match. Roddick and Gimel met at the net and urged the ump to loosen up a bit. This began and series of retorts between Andy and Justin, as it customary at the Open, getting many laughs from onlookers. Roddick won the match in straight sets.Today's 2nd Round Matches of Interest
