USA Vs Brazil Soccer Live Thread
Time For The US To Get Kicked Around A Bit On The Pitch [USA vs Brazil Live Thread]
READ MORE:

For all you soccer fans out there, the USA and Brazil are squaring off right now in the Confederations Cup, in what will inevitably result in yet another loss for Team USA. It starts at 9:55 am EST, and can be seen on ESPN2.

If you're watching, then you're either a Brazil fan, or a glutton for punishment. But seriously, this is a chance to watch some of the best players in the world go at it. By the way, the "best players in the world"... those are the guys in the yellow shirts. Just making sure we're clear on that.

Chat it up here for the duration of the game, and as always, enjoy the match!

I just wish every morning could give you options of what sport you want to watch, I'll be flipping through this one and the US Open for a good two hours.

Yea, it's pretty annoying, I put the US/Italy game on mute by the 2nd half, probably will do the same here.

It sucks, because I don't know a damn thing about soccer, so I would love to hear the analysis and the such... and I'm working, so I can't really stare at the TV the whole time, so I need the sound on, or it's useless to even "watch". But the buzzing... holy crap, it's going to drive me insane. What is it? Are they playing in the mosquito capital of the world or something?

From RNW website: "South African supporters blow on a mass-produced version of the vuvuzela, a traditional Zulu horn, that makes a sound similar to the buzzing of insects. Spectators in the stadium as well as at home are having trouble following the match because of the noise. At previous matches, the vuvuzela was banned."

I'm no soccer expert, but pretty much anyone could glance at this game for about 15 seconds, and it would become painfully obvious that Brazil is a far superior team. Everything they do, they do it better than us. Passing... defending... and just not looking stupid in general.

Now 2-0, and I do have a 'guarantee' from Cory (BluDevil) saying this will NOT be a 5-0 embarrassment game..we'll see.

And now golf is suspended, and video feed is lost in South Africa...nice.

Eww...

Yellow for a US player, this one completely deserved though compared to the Red against Italy.

i also thought that sound was irritating and distracting to the max....could hardly concentrate on the play...

US is looking much, much better on the offensive side this 2nd half. Get an early goal here and make it a game.

I'm glad Bradley had the sense to take Beasley out of the game, he's really been struggling and ineffective lately.  Now, I'd like to see Adu and Torres in the game and see what they can do.

Well, that red card pretty much kills any chance the US had of trying a comeback.  They were ineffective with 11 guys, no way they can be a match with 10

And now another Red..I have a feeling next Summer isn't going to be much fun to watch if this is the way the guys keep playing.

3-0 about 2 min later.

Somebody needs to remind Bradley that the object of the game is to score goals.  Why is he taking out a striker for a midfielder?

Agreed, I was hoping to see some of Adu in the last match, but now 3-0 and with 10 guys, bring him in for a little bit of time.

I guess the goal now is to not get thoroughly embarrassed on the national stage.... a little late for that I'm afraid

Ugh, even on a great opportunity and a great strike, they still can't get one in.

Nice to finally see some life and a couple of great scoring chances.

Unless it's an own goal or a penalty kick, it certainly seems like the US are snakebit when it comes to scoring goals against the powerhouse teams

im not liking bradley and im not liking dempsy this entire year.... dempsy has played like he is on the cover with dinho and messi with his little "gamebreaker" moves that end up in a loss of possession.

i dont like the calls... meaning the reds... i think both reds in the past two games should be yellows... this is a high level high intensity game and tournament... let the kids play and give them yellows.

Damn I forgot the game was on, slept right through it....looks like I didn't miss much anyway

And yes, that buzzing noise the crowd makes is completely obnoxious and unessesary. Does Africa not want the US to like soccer?

several countries already complained so itll probably be banned for the cup.

I thought the United States best bet in trying to pull the upset would've been to attack Brazil from the start of the match, just like Egypt did.  Instead, we sat back in the same alignment we did against Italy, 4-5-1, and we let the more skilled Brazilians take it to us.  The United States has become too predictable and while that boring style may work against the Costa Rica's, Honduras' and El Salvador's of the world, it wont work against the powerhouses of the sport who have too much talent

Brazil is a far superior team to just about every single other team on the face of the planet. The US isn't a top 5 world power in soccer, Brazil is. The US is a top 15 team in the world and the US can beat *plenty* of teams the world over, if you don't believe that go ask some Mexican fans when the last time their side beat the US was.

But Brazil and Italy are two of the top 4 teams in the world and the US has shown that it has a long way to go to be as good as they are, but I'd also say the US has shown they are much better than most fans give them credit for.

I wish the US would have played better, but they didn't get blown out and frankly for the US to still have a chance to advance in this tournament (even though it would be a miracle) is pretty impressive for a team that not many years ago wouldn't have even been able to participate in this tournament.

Beasley has lost a lot from his game, I don't think he's ever really healed from that injury he had last year. Adu and Torres should get playing time, they are the future of the US team along with Jozy.

US has to do the one thing they can do and try to use this as a learning experience. They are one of 8 teams that is getting to play in South Africa right now, so I'm hoping they are trying to put that to their advantage for 2010.
