USC coach Lane Kiffin has been the butt of many jokes throughout his tenure with the Trojans, but rarely does he crack a few of his own.Blog Photo - USC Football: Sun Bowl loss 'never happened'

However, following Tuesday’s practice, he was asked about the loss to Georgia Tech (who came in with a 6-7 record) in the Sun Bowl after a dismal end to last year's regular season.

"I don't know what the last term you said was," Kiffin told reporters with a smirk. "You obviously haven't bought into our hypnosis and things we did with our players. We snapped our fingers, and it never happened."

That’s right guys, USC – the consensus preseason No. 1 – never lost to Georgia Tech, which had to appeal to the NCAA in order to receive a postseason bid.

Of course, things probably would have been different had Matt Barkley been healthy enough to play that day. Max Wittek completed just 37.8 percent of his passes and threw three interceptions, mustering seven points against a Yellow Jacket defense that allowed 41 points or more six different times in 2012.

Lane’s right though. USC has to take desperate measures in order to get back into contention for the Pac-12 South Division. Maybe a little hypnosis would be good for a program that fell far below expectations last year.

Either that or the steam from the hot seat is finally screwing with Kiffin’s head.
