Update: Tyson Chandler Out 4-6 Weeks
Tyson Chandler will be out the next 4-6 weeks with a small non-displaced fracture in his right fibula. The good news is that Chandler will not need surgery, but the bad news is that the Knicks will now have to find someone else to replace Chandler at the center position. The Knicks do have a 35-year-old Kenyon Martin and a minutes-restricted Amar’e Stoudemire, but they cannot be the answer for a 4-6 week stretch; maybe 4-6 games, but not 4-6 weeks.
The 1-3 Knicks could easily fall out of the playoffs during this stretch unless they address this gaping hole in the middle. Either Andrea Bargnani may have to move to the five and Metta World Peace to the four or they may have to look to trade one of the backcourt pieces.
