He became the 29th member overall to join Kyle Whittingham’s recruiting class of 2013, which ranks No. 9 in the Pac-12 Conference.
"It is a great program, great family and I have friends going there also," Vaenuku said while on FOX 4’s Sports Sunday television program. "We can bring (Euless) Trinity up to Utah."
Vaenuku, a three-star prospect, is listed as an end but will likely switch to tackle – the Utes will be attempting to replace Star Lotulelei, who is heading to the NFL Draft.
Utah would like to carry its 22nd-ranked rushing defense into 2013 and continue to improve from it, and Vaenuku’s 6-foot-5, 280-pound frame could be an immediate contributor to plug the middle.
Vaenuku was offered a scholarship from over 40 schools, but chose the Utes over finalists TCU, Missouri, Texas Tech and BYU.
