It's a particularly sad day folks. Isiah has been canned. We all knew it was coming, but now that it's actually happened, I'm truly in shock. Who will I turn to for hilarious NBA hijinks on a daily basis? Who will I mock consistently for being the worst coach/GM in sports history? Frankly, I don't know.
But to help us all heal, here's a look back at the hilarious moments that defined Isiah's tenure as Knicks coach/GM/franchise killer.
It all started out so well. Here Starbury is incredibly psyched about Isiah having gotten Zach Randolph. The Starbury/Isiah love affair started on this day and never relinquished. Well, except for that time period where Marbury more or less quit the team, but let's not get lost in the details people.
His tenure hit a bit of speed bump when he faced sexual harassment charges. Luckily our hero came out smelling like a rose after he informed the world that a black man calling a woman a bitch isn't as offensive as a white guy doing the same thing. My memory is a bit hazy, but I believe that line won him the case and there were no repercussions from it at all.
Here's an example of Isiah's awesome coaching skills from the season. Would you believe that an NBA scout said the Knicks weren't running any plays for the final month of the season? I thought it had been going on all year, actually.
Isiah's superior coaching skills also inspired two white guys to write this wonderful song entitled "Fire Isiah."
But of course, through it all, the team banded together, worked hard, and never got mad at each other.
Don't worry, though. Even though Isiah's gone, he left the Knicks with a great present. He cost them approximately $187 million during his time with them.
A true leader. We'll miss you Isiah.
