I don't know what's been going on of late at the Indy 500 practices, but at the rate things are going, no one's going to have a car left to race next weekend.
AJ Foyt IV's car went up in a ball of flames during a weekend practice run when a crew member failed to tighten the fuel cap on the car. Whoops.
The fire left Foyt with a small burn on the back of his neck and singed hair. Someone's also going to be paying for the mistake according to Foyt:
"We know who did it. I don't want to single anyone out, but he's probably going to be looking for a new job and it's too bad because he's a good guy. He just made a mistake."Yes, a mistake. A big fiery mistake. Hope you like cleaning out toilets buddy.
There were four other crashes during the weekend as well, but none as spectacular as Hoyt's. You can see the not-so-fiery goodness below.
So that's 5 crashes this weekend, with one car nearly getting immolated, when no one else was on the track. Man, this should be one hell of race this next weekend. I expect Danica Patrick to win after she runs the last 100 miles on foot.
