There are a lot of sports writers out there that go after athletes who aren't exactly performing up to snuff. Bloggers do this too, of course. But the most vicious stuff I've seen usually comes from sports writers, who say things like "he couldn't guard me and I'm 57!"
Well, at least one athlete had the chance to get even with a writer, and it was on the field.
39-year-old Chicago Sun-Times sports writer Joe Cowley, who lambasted Chicago White Sox catcher
Obviously Cowley knows a lot about baseball, seeing as he cost Jeter the 2006 MVP by putting him 6th on his ballot (and somehow putting AJ at 10. What the hell?).
It's a long video, but well worth your time - and you may or may not be surprised. Yes, quite a tease, I know.
By the way, I'm aware that pretty much everyone on earth knows Pierzynski is a complete jackass, but this video confirms it on so many levels it's ridiculous. I definitely hope Cowley goes after him this year in the Times, just so we could see them in some other insane contest - like who can throw the hardest beanball.

I think now AJ should have to go write an interesting and entertaining column under deadline... All this video proved is that AJ can throw out a middle aged white guy... 16% of runners is still 16% of runners.

I don't think priz was a jerk this time. I think crowley got what was coming to him. Even the worst mlb catcher is still in the majors. I never knew prz. was that big though.

Sports Writers belong in the press box, period. If could have cleanly stolen one base, I think A.J. would have given him some credit.

A.J. is an ass but he is our ass. Even as a White Sox fan, I will say that he is enough of an ass that it may make Sean Avery a little uncomfortable.
I will give Cowley credit for coming out and taking his lumps. Let's see Smurfiotti try this.

This keeps up Cowley will probably just go ahead and vote AJ Pierzynski as MVP. He certainly hasn't had any trouble screwing up his ballot.
