You've likely seen clips of Al Davis' press conference last night, but it's so bizarre it's worth another look.
Davis, who bears full responsibility for turning the Oakland Raiders organization into a joke, sat up there and claimed he was firing Lane Kiffin for having "disgraced" the franchise. Uh huh.
The only thing that impressed me about this presser was that it showed Davis was still alive, going into tremendous detail -- overhead projector and all (who knew they still had these) -- about all his grievances against Kiffin.
There's no doubt that Kiffin was not the man for this job. He's too young right now to command respect from his players and fellow assistant coaches. But no coach could be successful with Davis undermining him in every way off the field. This is a great day for Kiffin, who will become an outstanding college coach hopefully.
I highly doubt he's guilty of 1/5 the accusations Davis has claimed and look forward to Kiffin's press conference today. Perhaps he'll rock out a more modern power point presentation? He did have a few thoughts yesterday that I think we can all agree with:
"I was embarrassed to watch that. I was kind of embarrassed for him, to tell you the truth.''
Who knows what the truth is, but yes, truth is this is embarrassing for one of the most storied franchises in the NFL.
I would say that Al is bat #&%$ crazy, but I don't think bat #&%$ crazy want to be associated with him.
Congrats Kim Jung Al your cult of personality has turned your organization into North Korea.
Hey you also may not kill you Al(since sunlight and stakes to the heart haven't yet) to know a little about the guy you are hiring. If you have to ask who is Tom Cable and have to look him up in the media guide after you have handed him the keys to your organization, then just call it a season and save yourself and your fans further suffering.
Why does David dress like it is 40 degrees outside all the time? I mean I know Northern California isn't as warn as Southern but still, lose the sweater with the jacket over it.
