Mets have at least proven they can beat the Phillies again, but only when Jimmy Rollins is out of the lineup.
Marlins 4, Nationals 3 - Rarely do you hear a comment like this, “That was the best play I’ve ever made without catching it,” but that's the truth from Josh Willingham. Nick Johnson hit what was surely a game-tying home run that was essentially rejected from the Marlins left fielder. No homer, only one run scored, Marlins sweep.
****
Cubs 7, Pirates 3 - I can't ever remember the Cubs winning five straight while playing this poorly. Rich Hill has some issues, but thank God for Jon Lieber who already has two wins in long relief. Geovany Soto continues to be one of the better hitting catchers early this season, adding four more hits.
Reds 4, Brewers 1 - Cincinnati took two of three from previously first place Milwaukee, thanks to the closing efforts of Francisco Cordero. Ken Griffey Jr. enjoyed the inning -- “Man, they booed (you) worse than they booed me. That was tremendous!” Is this just another strong Reds April/May start or are you taking them serious this season?
Athletics 3, Blue Jays 2 - Travis Buck and the A's started the season cold at the plate. Both were fixed this week against Toronto. Buck was 7-for-16, with four RBIs in a road sweep. Is that really Keith Foulke being reliable in their bullpen or an impostor?
