Baylor wins Big 12 title after Oklahoma State blows it
Then Oklahoma marched down the field themselves to score the winning touchdown with 19 seconds left. Big 12 title? Gone. Fiesta Bowl? Gone. The Sooners haven't had a great season, but they ended it in the sweetest way possible.
The winning score came on an excellent 7 yard pass from Blake Bell to Jalen Saunders. It was the only offensive touchdown for Oklahoma all day. The first two came on a punt return and a fake field goal. They picked up another one on defense in the final play of the game to provide the final score of 33-24. The following video recaps a game that earned this rivalry's moniker: Bedlam.
With that, eyes in the Big 12 turned to Waco and Texas vs. Baylor, which was now the de facto title game. The cold weather slowed down the Baylor high octane offense, particularly in the first half. That was alright for the Bears though, because their defense completely stopped Texas. The Longhorns managed just 217 yards of offense, and that's the least embarrassing stat. Quarterback Case McCoy was 12/34 for 54 yards. That's 1.6 yards per pass. Texas was 2-for-17 on third downs. Their one touchdown was on the drive that started at the Baylor 11 thanks to big punt return. That made it 20-10 Baylor, but the Bears scored 10 more points in the fourth to win 30-10 and win the Big 12.
With that, Baylor heads to the Fiesta Bowl. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State hope to receive at-large BCS bids, although neither looks likely. Texas will make a final decision on Mack Brown. Such is how the Big 12 turns.
