About Me:
I'm married, 2 kids. The retired in my occupation isn't actually retired! I hurt my back a few years back, that I have very limited movements. So now, I'm just a father...and a huge sports fan!
My sports career was basically soccer year round, with a few summers of baseball thrown in for good measure. For 15 years I played my heart out. Then I went to college, and walked onto the Mt. St. Mary's squad. The best year of my life, travelling the northeast and playing here and there. After my year of college (majored in partying after the season), I messed around in some rec leagues and tried out for the Harrisburg Heat Indoor team, and was cut near the end of tryouts -- should've worked harder to get in shape! My sports career is done, but I will be a fan till the day I die.
Well, due to my constant back pains, after two seasons of coaching I was forced into resigning my post. The two years of that was some great time, but I have to look at my health first.
Here is my most favorite sports video of all time!
Big Brown Loss Exposed! Jockey Suspended for Whip to Face Incident!
Well, I've been slacking on my reporting. I'll blame the Euro 2008 soccer tournament for my lack of posting anything relevant. So these past few days I've been sorting through horse racing news. And I have come up on some big news. First why we don't have a Triple Crown winner (broken horseshoe), and then I show you all how a jockey decides to whip a horse in the face.
A photographer has shot some great footage (hahaha foot, horseshoe. bah forget it!) of one of Big Brown's shoes coming loose. A great slide show is available for you to see the photos that were taken. Some do clearly shoe that the horseshoe came loose. Anyway, trainer Rick Dutrow stated that it didn't have that much of an effect on how Big Brown ran. For more on the Big Brown Shoe Theory, visit Bloodhorse.com.
Then we get to what could be one of the most offensive things I've ever seen in horse racing. A jockey apparently smacks a horse in the face with his whip. Accidentally? On purpose? I have no clue how or why he managed to do it. But Jeremy Rose has been suspended by Delaware Park for six months. I've included the video for you to come to your own conclusions, but I know mine. For more on the suspension, visit Bloodhorse.com.
Oh and not to be out done, but for the few that follow American horse racing, there are some fairly big races this weekend. Since I should end this on a high note, check out racing this weekend! Belmont Park has the Mother Goose Stakes, and Hollywood Park is hosting the Hollywood Gold Cup (on ESPN2) on Saturday. On Sunday, Hollywood has the Beverly Hills Handicap. Get out there and spend some money!
