Bill Martin of Fox8 and Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal Constitution Get In A On Air Fight
NBA

Good Lord Is This Awkward: Atlanta Sportswriter And Cleveland Sportsanchor Get Into It On TV.

One of the best things about local news is that quite literally anything can happen. And that most definitely happened here.

Mark Bradley, a nerdish-looking writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, took a very minor swipe at the city of Cleveland in his Game 1 blog of the Hawks and Cavs series. Which is totally appropriate, because Cleveland sucks.

This city, as you’d expect, is pumped. We Atlantans moan over the state of our franchises, but Clevelanders have it way worse. For one thing, they have to live in Cleveland.

So, what did the local anchor Bill Martin for Fox8 in Cleveland do? Well, first he openly challenged Bradley to a fight on the nightly news. But that wasn't enough. Just before Game 2, Fox8 managed to get Bradley to come on the air live and speak with Martin. It's pretty much as awkward as you can possibly imagine, including Martin referring to the Journal Constitution as the "Urinal-Constipation", multiple Waffle House disses, and yet another challenge issued to Bradley to man-up and fight. This is all while the female co-anchor tries to throw in the "you know this is a joke, right?" save as things escalate, which fails horribly.

I guess Martin can sleep well at night knowing his Cavs are going to sweep the Hawks...but he still has to live in Cleveland.

Bill Martin is just a pathetic Bill O'Reilly wannabe which is miserable enough in itself. And now you know why Mark Bradley is a newspaper writer and not on TV or radio.

Both cities have positives and negatives and the biggest positive for Cleveland is LaBron James.   Cleveland has great fans and long-time tradition with the Browns and Indians.   Unfortunately, Cleveland's reputation as a place to live takes its biggest shots from native Cleveland folks.

Then again, it could be worse. The only time you hear Atlanta on the national news these days it is concerning secession, putting an inmate to death or sodomy laws.

To each his own.

Peace...

If these putzes ever made it to a back alley, I'm not sure they'd know what to do.

I have visited Atlanta, and their newspaper - The Atlanta Journal Constitution - is the biggest waste of paper and ink in the country. Took me 5 minutes to read.  I get more coverage from my local paper.

What is with you clowns who can't come up with anything more original than trying to diss Cleveland, and you all fail MISERABLY at it.  Atlanta is one of the worst sports cities in this country, who's fans could care less about their teams.  Great place to visit on a vacation, but horrible if you're a sports fan.  Memo to the author : be ORIGINAL.  Cleveland jokes are lame.  I would venture to guess that you've never been to Cleveland, or you haven't been lately, rather you're just another lemming following the crowd of so-called journalists who for whatever reason still think it's cool to rip Cleveland.  It's not, and if Cleveland sucks is the best you can come up with, then you're at the bottom of the lame food chain.

Man I just want to call the cleveland news station and leave a message. lol! Did he say city of champions, lmao! What have they won? Jordan stopped that. Elway stopped that. The Ravens stopped that when they left. The Cavs will only get as far as the Lakers let them. I like James alot but the city of Champions? come on. rofl,lmao.lol...

Dreadful airport? How is that even considered an insult...it's one of, if not the largest airport in the US and has absolutely everything you could possibly want/need in an airport..

The 58 Peachtree/Dunwoody streets pisses anyone off visiting the city, but isn't that the same for any city you've never been to before?

It's not an awkward conversation, it's just a stupid one with two idiots that shouldn't have even been given the chance to be on the air.

These guys have nothing on the Jacksonville media and Woody Paige of the Denver Post before the Jags-Broncos playoff series in 1996. the Jaguars were in their second year of existence, and huge underdogs to John Elway and the Broncos in Denver. The City of Jacksonville and the citizens were called out by Paige, telling all his Denver Post readers how their beloved Broncos would crush the "Jag-Wads." Jimmy Smith caught the winning TD pass dfrom Mark Brunell, and the Jaguars humiliated the Broncos, their fans, and most importantly, Woody Paige.
