Covering all the bases from Sunday in baseball ...
Cubs 6, Reds 0 Following another Brewers meltdown (thank you Cardinals!) and win in Cincinnati, the Chicago Cubs are now 1/2 game back in the NL Central (1 less loss than Milwaukee). I've been holding back my elation with the Cubs mostly because you don't want to hear it, and I don't want to jinx them but that might have to change. It's on in the Central! Carlos Zambrano racked up his 14th win, best in the bigs, while getting more hits at the plate than he allowed. I've been a little hard on Big Z, but he's now worthy of the franchise player talk I wasn't buying a year ago. Or two months ago. Oh, and then there's this pitcher I said I wouldn't mention again that's possibly going to pitch this week. All this could change with the foes set to visit Wrigley this week (4 vs Phi, 3 vs NYM).
Angels 13, Tigers 4 Embarrassing weekend for Detroit. Calling it a sweep might me an understatement. Tigers were outscored 34-13.
Jose Canseco has "stuff" on A-Rod More on that this morning. Sadly I can't completely dismiss anything he says.
Latest on Mark Teixeira This info is bound to change a least a dozen times until tomorrow's 4 o'clock deadline. We can be certain John Daniels will wait until then and take the best offer.
ICHIROOO! Third fastest ever to 1,500 hits. Suzuki had a very Ichiroan quote afterwards - "Unless I get to 1,500, I can't get 1,501. So in that sense, all numbers are important to me."
Lastly, you remember the news Saturday morning about Emil Brown hitting TV Reporter Karen Kornacki in the eye with a pellet gun. Here's the video:
