I've been looking for video of this ever since it happened, and it finally surfaced. During Monday's Opening Day game between the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays in the Rogers Centre, Blue Jays fans got a little unruly, to the point that Jim Leyland felt that he had to take his players off the field altogether. Fans were throwing baseballs (among other things) onto the field, and Leyland was concerned for their safety.
Ironically, in an unrelated incident, the next game was ordered to be alcohol-free, as the Rogers Centre's liquor license was suspended for several violations over the past year, including "permitting drunkenness, permitting the use of narcotics, selling and serving to apparent minors, failure to request approved identification and permitting illegal liquor on the premises".
April 21st will also be alcohol-free, and a CFL game on August 1 will also suffer the same fate. Judging by the fans' behavior on Opening Day, though, maybe beer and Canadians are just a bad mix.
