The guy who could be the next Brock Lesnar fought in his first MMA fight on Saturday. Bobby Lashley, another former WWE star, took only 41 seconds to split Joshua Franklin's head severely enough for the ref to call an end to the match.
There's also an interview on the MMA Experts Blog, where Lashley discusses everything from his exit to wrestling, to his fear of bridges, to his desire to meet Brock Lesnar in the octagon for a clash of the titans someday.
Lashley is 6'4", and said that right now he weighs in at about 255 pounds. That would be the ideal size, and Lashley has the ideal build to compete with Lesnar. In the video, it looks like he has an athleticism similar to Lesnar, and this could be a huge fight sometime down the road, if Lashley is successful.
Hopefully the trend of WWE wrestlers coming to MMA continues. Many WWE stars were elite amateur wrestlers, and have the skill and athleticism to make the transfer. Also, it would be great to see talented individuals do more with their life than PRETEND to fight, and instead fight for real. Hopefully they cross over earlier than Lashley, however, since he is already 32.
If Dana White and the UFC are smart sign Bobby Lashley and give him say 3 warm up fights then have him take on Brock in a fight for the UFC Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship or if Brock doesn't have the title still have the fight and the winner gets the title shot
