I lived in Boston for a period of time, so I'm well aware of how nuts (and consistently drunk) the fans are there. Boston is definitely a baseball town, and that will never change, but the fact that the Celtics hadn't won an NBA championship in so long certainly meant it was time to celebrate when they finally reigned supreme again last night.
And we all know there's only one way to celebrate a title: by smashing public signs through windows.
I don't what to say other than that this is classic Boston.
Of course, this isn't even that bad in the grand scheme of things. Remember when the Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins in the first round of the NHL playoffs? Their fans set police cars on fire to celebrate the event.
Now that's what I call rioting. I'm afraid Boston's just gotten soft from winning all these championships.
I would tell you how we all reacted after losing to the Yankees in the following series... but I don't remember... I was too busy trying to figure out how to make Grady Little's death look like an accident...
