Boston College Fan Throws Flag From The Stands In Game Against Virginia Tech

Now This Is What I Call Home Field Advantage

I can't be the only fan out there who constantly gets ticked off by the horrendous calls that football officials make. It's been especially bad in the NFL this year, but don't worry, college has their fair share of ridiculous refs as well too. Including that ref who tried to take out South Carolina's Stephen Garcia on Saturday night - in the middle of the game.

Luckily though, some fans are fighting back. In Saturday night's Virginia Tech at Boston College game, one fan decided to help the refs out a bit. On a pass play with some minor bumping and shoving, it appeared initially that the refs had let the play stand as it was. But then all of sudden, an incredibly late flag flew out onto the field, prompting the Virginia Tech cornerbacks to toss up their hands in disbelief and ESPN to put the "flag" sign up on the TV scoreboard.

But the flag actually came from a fan in the stands, who amazingly managed to throw the flag all the way out onto the field in approximately the area where a flag normally would have been thrown.

And while I have no idea what happened to the fan who did this, I salute him or her. In fact, refs are so bad these days we should be able to throw flags on the refs. After all, who polices the police? Probably not extremely biased drunken football crowds, but still, it'd certainly liven up the games a bit.

And as for BC, man, get that flag thrower a uniform pronto.

Is "best" code for "obnoxious?" No, but seriously, this was awesome. Lifetime season tickets for this fan.
