I heard a story in passing yesterday about how a priest had been brought in by the Tribune Company to "bless" the Cubs dugout before the first game of the Cubs/Dodgers NLDS. At the time, it sounded like a joke. No one could possibly do something that ridiculous.
Plus, the Cubs curse is the Curse of the Billy Goat, which if I'm not mistaken, has nothing specifically to do with evil spirits or Satan.
But I guess when you haven't won a World Series in a century, you'll do whatever it takes. So yes, Greek orthodox priest Reverend Father James Prianius of Chicago was indeed hired to bless the Cubs dugout before the game, and did so with prayers and holy water. And fortunately, someone managed to snag video of it.
As we all know, the Cubs lost to the Dodgers by the score of 7-2. But that's because Father Prianius should have thrown the holy water on Ryan Dempster's right arm, not the dugout.
