Some people ask me "100%, how come you don't like soccer?" Well, I should answer that. I don't actually hate soccer. I watch the occasional EPL game and I always watch the World Cup. I'm simply like most Americans in that I don't like the lack of scoring and I hate the diving that goes on.

But the one thing that I really don't like about soccer is the fans. They're insane. And not the semi-OK Philly fan kind of insane, I mean really insane. And this video, which comes courtesy of With Leather, highlights my point exactly. It's a fan who was a little upset about his Veracruz squad getting relegated recently. Just imagine what going to Royals games would be like if their fans got this upset about loses.

And stuff like this happens all the time at soccer games. How about the Netherlands game that was suspended because of flaming toilet paper. Or the goalie that got hit by a flare. Or the blatantly racist fans that wave Nazi flags. I could go on and on.

Instead, here's a massively long list of every major soccer stadium disaster in history, the worst being one in which an unreal 340 people died - and that was in 1982 - not in like 1875 or something.

So anyway, if people wonder why I'm not the biggest fan of soccer, and neither are most Americans, pointing to the fans of the game is an easy way to explain it. We're not cranky old farts who want extreme discipline. We just would prefer to make it home alive.
