Crack Addict Cyclist Chad on Intervention

Don't Mess With Lance Armstrong

Good evening Sir, my name is Chad. I come from a rough area. I used to be a pretty good cyclist, but then I poked Lance Armstrong. That is why I am addicted to crack.

That seems to be what Chad is saying on A&E's Intervention.

Way back when, Chad was on the US Postal Service cycling team. He showed a lot of potential, so he was invited to participate in a camp at an Olympic training facility. It was at this camp that he had a meeting with Armstrong that apparently changed his life forever.

In a former teammate's words: "Lance Armstrong was already a big star at that point. I think a lot of the young riders that were there were in awe of somebody like that. Chad wasn't necessarily somebody in awe of anything."

Other guy: "Chad walked up to Lance and called him a 'doughboy' and pushed his belly in and Lance got really upset."

Chad: "Needless to say, the next morning I was asked to leave the Olympic Training Center."

This put Chad's life into a tailspin. He fell into drugs, derailing a once-promising career.

Chad poked Lance Armstrong, yadda-yadda-yadda, Chad ended up a crack addict and on a cable television show where families confront addicts.

Meanwhile, Lance Armstrong is off with Kate Hudson.

The lesson here as always is: Life really sucks sometimes when you're not Lance Armstrong.

P.S.  I hope he gets his life together.  That would be a great ending.  He needs to worry more about that then getting to the Tour de France.  Good luck to the guy, its a tough road.

You don't know me.  You don't know what I've seen.  And finally, you don't know what I know.  He made the choice to do these drugs.  No one forced this on him.  I've seen it first hand.  He refused to take the blame for his own problems..  The writer of the article hit the nail on the head.  He seems to think because he poked Lance Armstrong and got kicked off the team the drugs came to him,  and forced him to take them.  So be it if I'm a dick for saying it..  The last thing I'm worried about is your opinion, likewise you shouldn't be so worried about mine.  I've heard the excuses.  Come give me your opinion when you have dealt with anything close to this..  Until then shutup and go on living your life with you rose colored glasses.

I'm glad there's no such thing as personal responsibility anymore.  I'm not sure about Intervention but Dr. Drew always talks about an addictive personality and I think it would take that type of focus to become a professional cyclist.  Without cycling he found a new hobby to fill the void.  And if Lance didn't like the guy he would just have him disappear

I watched this with my wife (she LOVES Intervention) and I said that this is a story that is waiting to be written, and here it is. Granted, it is entirely this guys fault that he became addicted but in today's society, it will only be a matter of time before someone blames Lance.
