Cris Carter Says He Would Shoot Terrell Owens On ESPN Radio
Cris Carter Probably Could Have Used Some Better Words In Describing How To Get Rid Of T.O.
READ MORE:
As someone who's main job is to insult people, I know there are lines that you just shouldn't cross. One of those would be that you should never wish someone was dead, or imply that you'd kill them (unless of course OJ Simpson is involved in the discussion).

However, Cris Carter doesn't roll that way. No sir. The former Vikings wide receiver who's now a football analyst for the Worldwide Leader gave this cheery response when asked on ESPN radio today about what he would do with TO if he were in charge of the Cowboys:

“If I’ve got a gun, I’ve got one bullet in it, I shoot TO right now, right on the spot. I have a press conference, I have him come in, and I put a bullet right there [inaudible] in him.”

Uh, all right then. Considering what's gone on in the past two years in the NFL - Sean Taylor being killed as a result of getting shot during a home invasion, Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg, Richard Collier nearly dying from being shot multiple times - this was an exceptionally horrible choice of words.

Now, since this was just a one time miscue by Carter, and everyone makes mistakes, I think I'm willing to forgive him. Oh, wait, this wasn't the only time Carter has done this?

Yes, believe it or not, Carter was also on the radio yesterday, not on ESPN, and said essentially the same thing about TO (courtesy of Black Sports Online).

Good God, Cris. You all right there buddy?

As for TO, get yourself a bodyguard. Immediately.

Who does that? Over football? Chris has some serious issues. Yes we insult and make fun of people but detailing their death takes it so far beyond the line it isn't even funny. Do I want to see T.O. dead? No. Maybe a slight injury would curl the corners of my lips up, but I don't wish serious harm on the guy. At the end of the day, this is a freaking game.

It's obviously a figure of speech, so lighten up people.  Nearly everybody bitches about how stupid it is to be "politically correct" and how ridiculous it is that people get bent out of shape for taking things too literally........ so take the next step already and stop taking stupid comments like this at face value!!!

For as much as he praised Moss in his late Minnie and Oakland days (albeit, his old teammate), how much of a polar opposite can you get for two prima donna receivers that have had very similar disappointing behavior problems?

That guy deserves another chance like a bullet in the head...that is a figure of speech. Detailing it out to do it right then and there does cross the line. It is about being politically correct. He isn't just some guy, he is a paid representative and needs to conduct himself as such.

I agree with you entirely, however, it was a bad choice of words coming from a professional sports journalist. He set himself up for ridicule and misconception. He's a member of the media on TV and Radio, He should know better from doing this for so long. He may have to apologize somewhere down the line.

Just goes to show that if a player doesn't have any brains to begin with, he doesn't get more after retirement. Professional sports journalist??? Most of these guys (not Collingsworth) are just rockhead jocks.

"rockhead jock" is, at least with Carter, more apt than you realize, since he did cocaine during his playing days.

Believe it or not people want that type of commentary, that's why he got the job at ESPN in the first place.  So Carter really is conducting himself in a manner that befits his position and his status as an analyst.

And don't make it sound like he delivered a verbal manifesto over the radio detailing his exact plan to assasinate TO down to the minute because you and I both know that's not what happened.  You and I also both know that if Carter did in fact wanted to kill TO Abe Lincoln style, he wouldn't be so effing stupid as to talk about it on a nationally broadcasted radio show!!

I for one would rather have an analyst that speaks their mind, whether I agree with what they have to say or not, then some PC d-bag that's too much of a panty-waste to say what he really means because he doesn't want to offend some oversensative, whiney little bitches.  Futhermore, as far as I see it the only person on Earth that has a legitimate gripe to what Carter said is TO himself.  So lighten up.

I agree, it wasn't the smartest thing to cross Cris Carter's lips and I'm sure he'll have to apologize on live to TO and the Dallas Cowboys in the near future.  I just hope it doesn't get blown out of proportion!

Perhaps the right idea (in terms of 'getting rid of TO')......just a horrible choice of phrase
