The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles won the New Orleans Bowl in OT, 30-27. It was not without a price, however, as they lost leading receiver DeAndre Brown in the first quarter. In the previous series, Brown had set a school record for receptions in a season with 67.
Brown, a freshman, was going for a catch, and his left leg simply gave out as he was running, snapping in the middle of his shin. It was diagnosed as a lower leg fracture, which is obvious, but no further details were given.
Tavares Williams was the defender for Troy on the play. There was no contact on the play, and he immediately signaled for help as soon as he saw Brown's leg.

Best of luck to DeAndre Brown, and hopefully he is able to continue his career again soon.
