Even with the Boston Red Sox in town battling for first place, the Tampa Bay Rays couldn't sell out. With the team in 1st place, you'd think there was a chance for attendance to boom, but sadly they remain 13th out of 14 teams in the American League.
What's wrong with Rays fans?
Last night I was reminded of that answer. There's nothing wrong with the people of Tampa, in fact, they're quite smart. Dick Vitale is a season ticket holder, and no one, NO ONE wants to get anywhere near him during this impressive run. Dicky V can hoot and holler about a winning team like no other, seen above as a guest on Baseball Tonight.
That was painful just trying to make it through the interview. Can you imagine sitting next to him for nine innings? I'll enjoy the Rays bandwagon from home, thank you very much.
You like how Karl Ravech doesn't want to get upstaged in the knowledge department so he attempts to end ever sentence for Dicky V?
The reason the Rays still have the best record as the calendar turns to July, is that they took game 1 against Boston 5-4 on Monday night.

The Tigers Are Coming, The Tigers Are Coming Detroit is embarking on an impressive climb back up the AL Central standings, and they're doing it with numerous comeback wins. With Magglio Ordonez on the pine, Matt Joyce stepped up with the big bat in a pinch-hitting role, trippling in Gary Sheffield in the 8th to tie Minnesota at 4 apiece. Curtis Granderson took care of business in the after that, driving in Joyce for the game-winner. Tigers 5, Twins 4
No. 603 Was Sweet The only thing that can make a Ken Griffey Jr. home run swing even sweeter, is walk-off shot from The Kid. Hardly a consequential result as the Bucs and Redlegs battle it out in the NL Central basement, but that didn't stop Cincy from enjoying an exciting come-from-behind win on a two-run bottom of the 9th homer. Reds 5, Pirates 4
Most Underrated Pitcher In Today's Game? Most pitchers are just happy to have six wins at this point in the season. Roy Halladay has six complete games, tossing his 10th career shutout Monday night against the Mariners. Beating Seattle isn't much of an accomplishment, but six complete games by the All-Star break can't be overlooked. Perhaps that's the best description for Roy - most overlooked. Stuck in Toronto, he's not getting nearly enough farfare as he'd receive anywhere East of the Mississippi. I doubt he cares. Blue Jays 2, Mariners 0
