Dirk Nowitzki Takes Down Andrei Kirilenko, Sends the Fragile One to the Hospital
READ MORE:
NBA

If you're just tuning into the Dallas vs Utah game and wondering why Dirk Nowitzki is getting booed relentlessly with every touch this video may clear the air.

Nowitzki "inadvertently" bit on Andrei Kirilenko's pump fake and instead of reach for the ball he "inadvertently" reach for AK-47's shoulder and yanked him onto his back.

Kirilenko is more fragile than the majority of WNBA players, but an unnecessary move by the MVP. Andrei, which a history of back trouble, is apparently head to a local hospital for X-Rays.

I've never seen a crowd boo a player like Utah is booing Dirk. It is quickly turning into a defining game of the season. Whether he did it on purpose or not, Dirk committed a ridiculously hard foul.

Dirk is just overly frustrated that his team probably will barely have 50 wins coming off of a 67-15 season. This would make 3 sad seasons for the Mavericks. They are fighting just for a playoff seed. 4th in the southwest division, and with rival Spurs and Rockets combining for 24 straight wins, i think it is almost safe to say Dallas is done for the year.

They might be done in the sense of making the finals or wining a championship, but they're still an elite team in the League.

I'd say the Spurs are done for the year... but, that would be a biased statement. Wouldn't it?

How are you going to say the Mavs are done for the year. They just picked up Kidd, and are still working on getting him 100% familiar with the line up. They will still make the playoffs. 2 of their last losses should have been wins. SA vs. Dallas was a great game. Granted, I think the better team won. However, I think Dallas should have won. LA vs. Dallas was just another case of Kobe doing all the work, and still barely won. 0-2 in 2 games where they should have been 2-0. Dallas' problem isn't winning. It's closing out games, and winning the close ones. If they can fix that one issue, then they will have as good a shot as anyone.

well, i'm just looking at performance, and you can tell they are smarting without Devin Harris. J-Kidd is a veteran leader, but you can tell the Mavs are hurting a little. They are actually down on offense since the Kidd trade. They are also losing a lot of games. Lost to SA, LA, Utah. All playoff teams. They fought well vs. SA i'll admit that. I thought they were going to win. But like i said a week ago, a string of losses could drop you out, and Denver isn't stringing wins and they are currently out of the playoffs. And supposably i was a "douche" for saying that. Everything i have said to this point has come true. LA/SA top teams, Spurs #1 seed which i said they would reach at least for a short time, Denver out of the 8 seeds, and a double-digit win streak which will hold for San Antonio tonight vs. Nets at home.

As for Dallas, they will still make the playoffs. I'm thinking a 7 seed with how everyone else is playng comparing to them. That means they'd face LA first round, and if Kobe drops 52 a game ... that means another first round exit.

Kobe won't drop 52 a game. He shot what, 30 FT's it seemed like last game. All of them were going in. Dampier was playing Kobe well the whole game, until he fouled out. If Damp can keep from fouling out, then we'll be fine. Kobe wasn't making the jumpers until the end of the game. Similar to what Dirk did. Kobe didn't have his points until the end of the 3rd and 4th quarters.

he's like LeBron... both sometimes do that vs. most big teams. Wait until the end. i can't stand it. I'll enjoy watching Kobe whine in frustration with Ime Udoka and Bruce Bowen staring down his every move.

Dirk, I dare you to try that to some like oh. . . Shaq. Anyone else they would have beaten you until you were just an Uwe Blab on the court.

Yeah, since accidents warrant idiotic force.

Look, I know we will disagree about Dirk's intent, I feel what he did was uncalled for and it was purposeful. Was he trying to put AK-47 in traction? No, but the guy is pissed about the way things had gone the day before and to the start of this game and he saw someone he could handle. I ask because would he have tried this with Okur or Boozer?  I am not so sure. Look you foul the guy to prevent an easy two, but to do the fly by and pull a move that Vince McMahon would be proud of then I feel is not accidental and he should have been ejected.

Again that is my opinion, and I full acknowledge that I could be wrong.

However I will agree about the idiotic use of force. I should not always have the sarcasm speaker up to 11 when it comes to violence. I am not for dudes rolling up to each other and trying injure one another.

Lastly, I just really dying to find a way to reference Ewe Blab.

No seriously.

I agree that he shouldn't have fouled there. However, I think he was just trying to block the shot...somehow, and after AK pulled a double move, Dirk got off balance and still attempted the "block" or, "foul"... however you look at it. Dirk is a lanky fellow like AK is. If you watch the video again, to me it looks like dirk just got caught on his shoulder. He was trying to swipe at the ball, and due to his lengthy arms as well as AK's... he just got caught/tangled up.
