Duke Cheats. But you knew that already.

I can't offer you a great picture of a Brian Ulracher boob grab, but second to that I can think of no better way to start off your Friday morning than Josh McRoberts and Dick Vitale. Ok I think of a lot of ways, but play along.

Sort of like a Where's Waldo, count how many different time McRoberts gets away with any number of violations. (all in good fun Duke fans)

Dick Vitale and Mike Patrick caught some slack from me yesterday due to their usually blind ways ... but on this clip where Josh McRoberts committed THREE uncalled violations, Vitale actually agreed with one.

No doubt he could have been called for the walk. I didnt dispute that. I just hate all the ridiculous charge calls 6 inches from the rim. A penetrating player is penalized way to much after he passes his defender. Im all for the charge when its with reckless abandon, but when a guy penetrates deep into the paint after a legit dribble, spin move, whatever, he deserves that chance to score.

It's funny. I use to not hate Duke. I didn't like them, but I respected them because they constantly won. Then my team, BC, moved into the ACC, and I started watching Duke play and finally realized how easy it is to hate a Duke player. I never understood it beforehand, but once you start watching them, some freakish hatred takes over you and you just want to watch them all, especially Greg Paulus, get punched in the face.

Regarding the clip, he should have been called for a foul or two or three because in most other instances it would have been called. I don't care if traveling is eliminated along with other rules, but it has to be consistent throughout the leagues. I hate how some refs call it one and others play to the crowds and the players. I just want conformity.

What about the two walking violations?

We covered that. Traveling has now been removed from the college rule book to better prepare the players for the NBA game.

No way in the game of basketball should u be allowed to stand under the basket and take a charge, that guy was a 1ft away from the rim and he goes flying backwards. I cant stand Duke as much as anyone, but I dont believe a charge should have been called either.

Mike Patrick is far worse than Dickie V.  Patrick has called almost every Duke game and he spends the whole game on his knees for Duke and Coach K.

You mean they don't call traveling in college or the NBA?

I eventually muted the game (I'm a Terps fan), and let me tell you...I was on the phone with gearhead cussing.  They call a foul at one end, and the same thing happened at the other end, but no call.  I made a comment to gearhead that shall not be repeated in public venue.  I understand letting the home team go on some things, but wow, that was just bad!

It's close ... but I think you could argue that on any other court in America McRoberts would have been guilty of TWO walks and ONE charge.

Patrick is what gets to me in this one.

Do they still call traveling in college, because I know they got rid of that rule in the NBA.

But yea, that's a charge, or should be since it looks like he leans his shoulder, but either way, I'm still laughing at the fact that he said it was a flop. And so matter of factly too.

My God, Mike Patrick is becoming worse than Dukie V! I could see maybe thinking it was a blocking violation since the MD player was leaning a little bit, but to dismiss it as a flop is asinine. McRoberts walked before dribbling the ball, then took a leap into the defender, then shuffled his feet some more before going up. Block...maybe. Flop...no way.
