USA Basketball begins it's Olympic preparations with a 120-65 rout of Canada who only had one NBA player to its credit.
The blowout was to be expected. Dwyane Wade's sharpness may have not.
D-Wade made his first five shots from the field and ended his first game played since his injury with an acrobatic finish to officially announce he's ready to resume being the All-Star player he is. Wade finished with 20 points, tied for the lead with Carmelo Anthony and Michael Redd.
Thank you Coach K for identifying the need for sharpshooting perimeter players. Redd is going to be one of the most valuable players when Team USA takes on the more capable Argentinians and Lithuanians. The international three-point line is free throw for the Bucks shooting guard.
My only criticism after a too early to criticize game one, is that despite all this we hear about Jason Kidd's leadership, the second unit seemed to play better with Deron Williams AND Chris Paul on the court at the same time. I realize Kidd has the experience, but I suggest the team is better off with Williams or Paul getting most of the PT at the point.
Here's the beginning of the team highlight reel -- special attention needed to the Kidd to 'Melo to Bosh dunk near the end.
