Yesterday afternoon during the Lakers/Jazz game, Ronny Turiaf sent a message to the Jazz. And that message was you won't go in for a layup even long after the whistle has blown, no sir. That's because it's the playoffs, where NBA players suddenly decide it's time to play hard and earn their paychecks, or something like that. Anyway, the funny thing is I can barely remember any flagrant fouls from the regular season, yet in the past few weeks, we've seen a ton of them. Let's take a look back.
Here's Ronny Turiaf taking the no layups rule a little too far.
Marvin Williams sends the message that "You might be beating us by 40 in Game 7, but at least I'll kill your point guard."
Some loser whose name I won't even mention shoves LeBron when he's airborne.
And here's Jason Kidd proving that Dallas made the right move trading for him. And by "made the right move move" I mean "made the worst mistake in franchise history."
What's always important to remember about these flagrant fouls is that they're committed when a guy is in the air and incredibly vulnerable. Don't feel the need to give him a hard screen, be sure to do something that could potentially end his career.
And we're guaranteed to see at least a few more before the playoffs end. I mean, after all, Bruce Bowen is still playing. He's good for at least one.
