In today's world where one television commercial is so depressingly awful that it inspires TV viewers to plead for their sanity, sometimes we need to take a look back at the good old days, when commercials were nothing more than a football player in a leather chair discussing what happens in the huddle, and articulating his post-game tobacco regimen.
Frank got lucky after every game, even if it wasn't always with Kathy Lee. And he wanted to share that with the world. He even suggested getting a carton of special Christmas-edition cancer sticks to share with the whole family. How thoughtful of you, Frank.Even though I think I would rather have pretty much anything instead of a carton of Lucky Strikes for Christmas, one of my biggest wishes would be for a return to classic commercials like this one.
Now, we're assaulted by supremely annoying jingles and cheesy stories. How depressing. Bring back the days of Frank Gifford's Lucky Strikes. Perhaps Eli Manning could star in one of these, keeping with the NY Giants theme. That way, he could talk about his Lucky Strike to David Tyree in Super Bowl XLII.
