Gavin Floyd Almost No-Hitter [MLB Walk-Off]
Gavin Floyd Helps White Sox Bust Out of Losing Slump, Blow Up Dolls for Everyone
READ MORE:

If there's such thing as a quiet no-hitter, Gavin Floyd's effort would fit the bill.

I usually peruse the boxscores a couple times a night to see what's going on and noticed the Twinkies notched a run in the 4th inning. With several men on base, I didn't even give it another thought.

Two hours there's a breaking news bulletin about Floyd going into the 8th without any hits for the second time this season. It wasn't pretty. Three walks and a run scored off of an error and subsequent sacrifice fly, but you've got to figure this kid is going to get one eventually.

Joe Mauer drove a ball to deep left center to end the no-hit bid with one out in the 9th. Credit Nick Swisher for at least diving at a ball he knew he wasn't going to catch. Can't tell you how many times we've seen a no-hitter broken up by a ball where the outfielder didn't at least give max efforts. Swish looked a ridiculous in doing so, but you know his teammates loved it.

So did the blow up dolls. Sox 7, Twins 1.

Uh-oh, somebody got Joba'd Wonder how Mr. Steinbrenner is doing this morning? Panic! Joba Chamberlain gave up a three-run blast by David Dellucci of all people and took the Yankees loss. Indians 5, Yanks 3.

Moises Alou pissed on the Dodgers' hands Yes, the 38-year-old Mets outfielder stole a base. That base? Home plate. That's really all I have to add here. Dodgers 5, Mets 4.

Fish out of water Raise your hand if you thought the Florida Marlins would have one of the best staffs in the National League. Liar! Scott Olsen kept his strong going with eight strikeouts and allowing just two hits against Milwaukee. Brewers have now lost five out of their last six, although the worst news is that Ned Yost has no backup plan for closer outside of Eric Gagne. Marlins 3, Brewers 0.

The bigger thing should be the Sox scored 7 runs!

It was nice to see Floyd get some run support, but I worry that the White Sox may have used up there runs for the rest of the week.
