I'd like to thank lightning strikes for knocking out the worldwide TV feed for what had to have been one of the most exciting games I COULD HAVE SEEN in years. Three times the feed went down causing fans all over the planet to miss large chunks of the second half -- including Miroslav Klose's goal in the 79th minute that put Germany ahead, 2-1.
Anyway, here are the full highlights above. I'm sure the riot videos from Turkey and Germany will be up any moment too.
I swear this game could have made me a soccer fan if I'd been been able to see the whole thing. But then it's obvious God doesn't want that to happen, and who am I to argue with him?
It's a shame Turkey are out. When some teams fall behind, you know they are done, but they always kept fighting. Nice job by Germany as well. A pretty good match, even though nobody got to see it live if they weren't in the stadium.
That's great to see the goals missed because of the blackout but true soccer fans, while disappointed, understand how great that game was without having to see just the goals.
Turkey had no chance of winning that game even in OT "the hunger" can only get you so far when you have 13 men available to play and a back up keeper in the net. It was just they way it would pan out. Nice run turkey but your aggressive tactics proved to hit you hard.
Did they use a staple gun to close a gash on the top of that Turkish player's head? Maybe I need to reconsider my notion that soccer players are soft.
Nah. Just that guy isn't.
If you play it competitively you know players cannot be soft. Especially at that level. Italians just take advantage of the ref by flopping and most players when they are holding something are acting to get that foul call. The refs are starting to do a terrific job at sniffing out faking and real. However sometimes real is mistaken for acting.
