Today's daily Euro 2008 is brought to you by a puddle's splendid assist.
The Swiss aren't tremendously adept at this sport of soccer. Currently ranked 44th by FIFA, their last World Cup Quaterfinal appearance was 1954. As you can image, their thoughts on this are quite neutral.
In Group A with the very talented Portugal team and solid Czech Republic, the only chance the Swiss had for a win was against Turkey. No love.
Although they were able to finagle the worst goal of the tournament thus far. Eren Derdiyok sent a centering pass in front of the goal, where the keeper had vacated, into a large puddle where the ball seemingly sat for several seconds before Hakan Yakin fortuitously tapped in their lone goal.
After this loss, the Swiss have quit the Euro cold turkey (sorry).
