Hakeem Nicks is just begging to be drafted by the Lions. Despite all the hype around Pat White, and despite the 31-30 loss to West Virginia in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the junior WR from North Carolina was the star of the show. He made several circus catches and was a huge factor in the game.
Nicks had 8 catches for 217 yards, a Meineke Car Care Bowl record. He also accounted for 3 of the 4 UNC TD's. He had the ridiculous behind-the-back catch that you can see in the above video, and then he had this juggling catch over several other players for a 73 yard TD catch. Check it out:
Nicks showed speed, hands, strength, and everything else you could possibly want out from a top WR prospect. For his sake, we hope the Lions go elsewhere instead of selecting him as their obligatory 1st round receiver. But there's no doubt that his draft status improved in this game.
The Lions love wide receivers!! This guy was awesome to watch. Don't know if he can do it against an NFL "D", but on this day he was unstoppable. A couple circus catches with fortunate bounces and a fallen defender on the third TD, but take nothing away...
Hicks did more for his draft stock today than any other player in any single game this year. IMO.

some of his catches were in great coverage. i dont care what league you're in when you catch a ball in a tight window and make excellent plays after the catch you're good

He's good, and he helped himself. I think that was said.
"Is he the best player in the draft?" Will the Lions pick him first? That is the point of the thread.
The Lions do love their wide outs but are in desperate need of a QB. I could actually see them trading their first round pick. Not sure if there is a QB that warrants a number 1 overall pick. I do think that they might be able to get Seattle or St. Louis to bite and trade up.

I'd like to see the Lions draft a great offensive lineman first because no quarterback coming out in this draft is worth the first pick. Hopefully they can pick up a Matt Cassell and use their other pick to beef up that defense
