Note to Self: Go to Chicagoland Next Year

The IndyCar season finale at Chicagoland was a microcosm of the series' existence: a great product that nobody watches. Overshadowed by the NFL and NASCAR, the IndyCars staged its best race of the year, with side by side and even 3 wide racing at almost all times all over the race track. Helio Castroneves started last, and worked his way up to the lead in about 70 laps. The end was a duel between Helio and Scott Dixon, a duel originally given to Dixon, but on the photo finish was reversed to Helio. No matter for Dixon. He won a well-deserved second championship.

Thus concludes what have been the wildest IndyCar season yet, thanks to unification and the continuing Theater of the Absurd, especially when one Danica Patrick is involved.

Oh, and if you're tired of these posts, take heart. Next season doesn't start 'til April.
