We Came For Blood!!! Another Hockey-Related Ref Versus Parent Fight.

Youth hockey continues to rule in the "violent parents attacking refs/coaches" category as evidenced by this awesome video from London, Ontario.

It seems that a few parents got a little bent out of shape after a Kitchener player was injured when checked from behind by a London player, which sparked an on-ice fight. When the referee went to announce penalties - the London player was thrown out of the game and suspended for three more - the linesman was attacked while leaving the ice by a Kitchener parent. I demand a 100 game suspension!

You'll hear wonderfully colorful language in the video, including a hysterical woman yelling "Do your f****** job!" to the refs.

Anyway, no charges were ultimately filed against the attacker, and no one was hurt in the fight. I know, I'm disappointed too.

I coach travel baseball and park district basketball - the parents are fifty times worse than the kids. Everybody's son is the next ARod or Michael Jordan. I had parents call me after a "PARK DISTRICT" basketball game last Saturday (we lost by one) that I didn't handle the refs (it's a league where everybody plays an equal amount - records don't matter). I tell the kids to learn from their mistakes and have fun - their lives don't change from a park district b-ball game. They will go home eat, do homework, play with friends and forget all about the game - win or lose - in a few hours....On the other hand - the parents :-(

My step-son and I coached my Grandson's little league team for 2 years... and that was more than enough.  One season, after listening to some a**hole scream about batting lineups, playing time, and the like, i finally went up to him between innings and asked him if he REALLY wanted to relive his youth I could get him a t-shirt and a cup and he could play next inning... did not go over well.

As much as I want to, this is why I will never coach Little League baseball or youth hockey or soccer or any of that.  I'm scared to death some crazed parent who thinks their kid is the next Roberto Alomar will bludgeon me to death for playing their kid in the outfield instead of second base.

To those crazy parents: Your children are overvalued and you are friggin insane.  Seek help.
