The best mom in the NBA? Without question, it's Ray Allen's mom Flo Allen-Hopson, who can be seen at pretty much every Celtics game with a bedazzled jersey with her son's name and number on the back. She's always cheering on the team, she sometimes talks trash to the opposing team, and she even runs marathons for charity.
Earlier this year, she ran her 3rd Boston Marathon, raising money for the Joslin Diabetes Center, in honor of her 5-year old grandson Walker (Ray's son), who has diabetes.
"When I wanted to stop and quit I would just think about the daily pain my grandson endures. That's greater than any pain I can feel on the 26.2-mile route."
Next up on the NBA Mom's list: Pam McGee.She's a former WNBA player, and is now the first woman ever to both play in the WNBA and also have a son in the NBA. Her boy, Javale McGee, has really found his niche with the Denver Nuggets.
Pam is more than your average NBA mom. She's intense. Probably even more intense than her son. Her glare is already infamous across the internet.
It's definitely appropriate though, because her son is known for some of the most bone-headed plays in the league. His athleticism is unquestioned, but his decision making skills on the court could use some improvement.
Last but not least: Gloria James. The mother of LeBron James, perhaps the most gifted athlete of our time, she has made quite a few headlines of her own.
I don't want to give anything away, but I'll let Delonte West sum it up. Let's just say she might not be the most supportive mother in the world.
I hope my mom doesn't read this one.
Happy Mother's Day, everyone!
