It's one thing to have your dad break up a fight when you're 10. It's quite another for your old man to escalate a fight when you're an adult.

Sam Hornish Sr. steps into the middle of the dispute between Sam Hornish Jr. and Tony Kanaan. Way to go dad! I'm sure Junior isn't embarrassed in the least.

All this was missing was Danica Patrick throwing a fit and tugging on some dude's arm because she's really pissed. Guess I'll just have to wait until next week.

0	The IRL has become the NHL. It only gets noticed when there's a fight. As for Hornish, NASCAR can have him. He'll fit right in now.

0	They can't give up on Hornish. As of now, there are only 6 good drivers (+Dancia) keeping the series alive. If they lose Hornish, there will be even less competition. And the NHL doesn't even get noticed when there's a fight.

0	If Hornish does leave, you may as well stick a fork in the IRL. I suppose Marco Andretti could maybe somehow save it, but theres not much hope left. As GMAC stated, there's so few top drivers left in the series and then a bunch of field fillers. One less driver, a somewhat marketable American (in a very diverse series) at that, would really hurt.

I bet to differ for a couple reasons.

1. 75% of the marketing in the IRL is on Danica, if not more. Marco gets most of the rest, and now Dario gets the scraps. Danica or Marco leaving is a bigger problem than Sam leaving.

2. There are less field fillers than there used to be. Six drivers are top of the line, and Danica and especially Marco could get there. Plus, guys like Meira, Scheckter, Sharp, and Rice certainly have the talent to be in the series legitmately. That leaves or six or seven field fillers, basically a third. There's no way you could ever convince a NASCAR field isn't at least a third field fillers.

3. Again, all the marketing is Danica and Marco. The IRL had it chance to market the rest of the field when it got Danica-based attention, and they blew it. Don't get me started on the "need Americans" thing.
