Jeff Feagles Is The Last Man Left Standing From Either RBI Baseball Or Tecmo Super Bowl
It's All Come Down To Jeff Feagles

If you're too young to have ever played RBI Baseball or Tecmo Super Bowl, then you need to get off my lawn right now. But, more to the point, today is a rather sad day.

It seems that as of right now, there is only one - ONE! - player still playing from two of the all time best sports video games EVAR.

Yep, while Roger Clemens and Julio Franco - the only two players left from RBI Baseball - were both playing during the 2007 season, Franco retired earlier this season and Clemens of course got embroiled in the steroid controversy and never suited up.

In the NFL, Junior Seau and John Carney are no longer listed on any active rosters and appear to finally be retired. Which leaves us with one man who's still representing for the old school sports video games of my youth.

Jeff Feagles of the New York Giants.

Feagles is currently on the Giants' active roster, but here's the better news. He signed a two-year contract with the Giants right after the Super Bowl which means if he doesn't start sucking, we'll have at least two more years of Tecmo greatness in the NFL. Ok, maybe not greatness, because Feagles is a punter, but I'll live with it.

I'm just sad Bo Jackson isn't still around. After all, he may have been the greatest sports video game character in the history of the universe. Don't believe me? Just check out this video.

Oh yeah, Christian Okoye was pretty darn impressive too.

By the way, if for some reason you'd like to play these great old games today, rather than work, here you go.

RBI Baseball
Tecmo Super Bowl

No need to thank me people, I'm just doing my job.

This is the second time I've watched the Okoye video, and I've come to a conclusion: Christian Okoye is Iron Man and Bob Downey was just covering his ass by fessing up in movie of same name.

When a defender runs and bounces off of Okoye at full bore, the defender flies for five yards and then rolls end over end for five more.

Now, it's humorous to imagine this in real life -- just imagine Adrian Peterson planting his feet at the fifty and Al Harris swooping in for the tackle, only to bounce off of A.P. like a super ball and travel thirty feet in the opposite direction.  I mean, holy hell.

But there's no way Okoye was wearing normal football gear in that game.  He had to be: (1) indestructable and (2) somewhat elastic, because humans aren't exactly pinballs when thrown against indestructable metal (I've never tried, but I can't imagine that isn't the case).  So perhaps this is the Iron Man II suit -- iron with an outer shell of highly receptive springs.

It could happen, right?

The cheat codes explanation is too easy.  Cop.Out.

The secret is when Okoye was in excellent or good condition, Colts defenders couldn't tackle him without diving because they had a low tackling ability.

Glad to see gang tackling was apparently a development of the late 90s.

Kind of like how free throw shooting was apparently a jump shooting drill in Tecmo Super Basketball -- by the way, the absolute BEST hoops game of all-time.

This guy gives a tutorial.  I'm not sure what to make of it, other than that I imagine him with Cheetos fingers and a half-empty case of Pepsi at his side.  Not an insult, he's awesome.
