Jim Edmonds Great Catch Before Tal's Stupid Hill

So That's Why They Signed This Guy

by CriticalFanatic CriticalFanatic | >7 days ago8 Comment Comments »

I didn't want to do this because I'm sure you predicted that I would after my poo-pooing of his signing, but Jim Edmonds made a hell of a catch last night. So did Jacoby Ellsbury, for that matter.

Or was this classic Edmonds, making a challenging catch look even better by failing to run under the ball? We know Jacoby would have been having a drink, sitting in a lawn chair under this blast to center for a good few seconds.

Either way, it's a great catch from the new Cubbie in the face of that stupid hill in Houston and for a brief, brief second I applauded the man. It'd be nice if he could hit, but I'll take some centerfield gold gloveness if he still has it in him.

+1 thumbs upTypical Cubs fan. Is your insane jealousy for Jim Edmond's because he used to be a Cardinal? Or because he help beat your downtrodden team on numerous occasions? Because while a Cardinal he put your best pitcher to shame many times? Well maybe big Z can teach some oppents how to piss off Jimmy Ballgame so they can knock him down we all know what happens when you give ole' Jimmy the brushback at least Cards and Cubs fans do right.  But it was a great catch what did your annoucers call it? Baseball History? And what are they saying at NSBB? Pie would have been camped under it? Bawahahahahaaaaa!! Johnson would have made the play hahahahahahahah!! I don't think so Pie would have looked like a stumbling fumbling fool and Johnson would have pulled a Bump Bailey out of the Natural. Cubs Fans Go figure. Can I give you a thumb down?

You must have missed my previous post on Edmonds, saying that yes, I was a typical sports fan having a hard time accepting a guy who killed the Cubs on my team.

As I said above, nice catch. He's fun to watch in the outfield, I'll give him that.

Maybe we'll see the true Jimmy Edmonds in Chicago instead of the shell of a man that he was in San Diego.

I watched this game last night and the catch was great. It just didn't look right to see him in a Cubs uniform.

I've always wondered, how is "Enron Field" allowed to have that hill in center field?

Sorry Critical I did not see the other blog. But I hope you know I was just yanking your chain.
I think Jimmy will help your club in a lot of areas. He a real good on field leader, seemed to be a great teammate while he was here in the Lou. Big Z won't have to face him. Veteran Leadership and he has a ton of Playoff and World Series experience. The Cubs have a very good team this season and Jimmy ball game could be the missing piece that brings it all together. I hope not But this could come back to haunt the Redbirds.

I'm not a Cubs or Cards fan, but that highlight just looks wrong.  I can't watch it.

It was an ok catch ... the batter, Hunter Pence, had a better catch, actually on the hill, next to the flag pole last year though .... soooo .... it's ok on the great scale.
