The Yankees are in last place in the AL East, having lost six out of their last eight while playing what could best be described as uninspiring baseball.
What's a manager to do?
Some threaten a big lineup shakeup through the media, others actually follow through with it and hope to change the mojo. Then there's the Billy Martin and Lou Piniella school of managing: completely loose your head, kick some dirt, throw your hat and put on a big show for your team and fans.
After the home plate ump decided that the base of Jason Giambi's bat tipped a pitch, watch Girardi's beg for an ejection.
He gets some solid points as the Yankees went on to win in his absence, but I really think he could have kicked his hat a little better and went for the sweep dirt on home plate technique. That's always a nice touch.
