I was pleasantly surprised with the tune of John Calipari's post game interview with the lovely Sam Ryan.
He was saying all the right things, taking the blame off his players and putting it on himself (foul!11!) and giving the necessary respect to Kansas.
THEN, the Derrick Rose shot was brought up and he lost me with some sour grapes.
"Yeah, I don't like this being able to go to the monitor. I'm going to try and get that changed now."
I understand the frustration, John, but Derrick Rose clearly had a foot inside the line. It was a two-point field goal. What's wrong with correcting a very significant call?
While you're at it, I suggest you propose a shortening of the free throw line.
I was ready to eat my words that I had been repeating to anyone that was willing to listen. "Free throw shooting will kills this team." I thought that Memphis would finally put a nail in that coffin.
INSTEAD, Memphis didn't take all the free points offered them and lost the game.
Before the Tennessee 1 vs. 2 game on PTI, Calipari said that if he is recruiting someone and looks at 10 aspects of their game, free throwing shooting would be 11th. Maybe he will rethink that now.
when i heard him say that last night about the monitor, i really couldnt believe it. totally classless. im not sure if i am shocked or not. if he could have passed it off jokingly maybe, but i think he was serious. oh well.
