John Daly Passes Out At Hooters, Gets Jailed
John Daly's Recovery From Alcohol Abuse Isn't Going Very Well
You know, it really is a shame that John Daly ever discovered alcohol. Daly, in all honesty, is an incredible golfer, considering I'm certain he's shot under par before while completely drunk.

Butch Harmon - who was once Tiger Woods's coach - said that he stopped coaching Daly because Daly cared more about getting drunk than he did about playing winning golf. Daly objected to that, but frankly, Harmon nailed it on the head. And this story only backs that up.

Apparently Daly got insanely drunk at a Hooters (of course) in North Carolina this weekend and actually wound up passing out.

Someone at the restaurant called EMS after he lost consciousness. Paramedics say Daly refused to go to the hospital so they called for help from police.

Officers described Daly as extremely intoxicated and uncooperative. He repeated he didn't want to go to the hospital.

The problem was also compounded by the fact that Daly didn't have a ride. Now, you're probably wondering, why didn't he have a ride? Well, he was apparently with a tour group that wasn't real thrilled with his drunken antics, so they ditched him.

Officers say he was part of a group traveling on a tour bus. The group left Daly behind at the Hooters because they didn't want him to continue traveling with them.

Man, for most people that would be rock bottom. For Daly, that's called Sunday. Daly wound up being taken to a local jail where he spent 24 hours sobering up.

The problem here is that Daly clearly has an addiction, but at the same time seems totally unwilling to try and pull himself away from it. I mean, why else would he have made a commercial for Maxfli that clearly celebrates binge drinking?

I don't know what it'll take for him to finally turn it around, but it better happen soon. His liver alone has to be about 100 proof by now.

My Dad was a big fan of John Daly.  He was very disappointed when Daly started to fall into this mess.  You get a feeling that people root for his success and recovery because he's an "everyman" on the PGA Tour and many people can relate to him.  Tiger's the Stanford-educated master of his chosen profession who is married to a blonde Swedish model.  Mickelson's a little closer to the "normal guy", but he's still a multi-millionaire and frequent champion even on his worst day.  Daly's the kind of guy movies like "Tin Cup" were made about.

Passing out drunk at a Hooters IS rock bottom.  John better recognize that and do something about it, or it's truly over for him.

Gotta give the guy points for at least patronizing his sponsor!

Being originally from Memphis, TN it has always been a known fact to us that John likes his alcoholic  beverages.
I have worked security in one of the casinos in Tunica, MS and John was a regular at the $100 slot machines. He would pick his machine, it would get roped off and security would be posted around him. It would make me sick to see the amounts of money he would lose (more than I would ever dream of making in a year, sometimes several years). He always had a fresh "diet coke" and cigarette in hand. Granted, when he won, he was a great tipper!!!
He also has an awesome restaurant here in NW Mississippi, John Daley's Bar and Grill. He does not hesitate to help the community and overall is a really good guy. Just has a problem controlling his alcohol intake. I can't bash him for drinking, goodness knows I enjoy my Bud Light, I just do it at home.
John, if you wanna get smashed, do it at home man, or at least have the limo pick you up.

It truly is sad. The public loves nothing more than a juicy scandal to make themselves feel better about their own normal life. Britney Spears is the true testament to that one. You know you are in trouble when people are not laughing and making jokes about the situation but feel sorry for you. Hopefully this is the wakeup call he needs to get his ass into therapy. With some rehab and a good personal trainer, he could make a name for himself again.

I feel bad for Daly. My dad was an alcoholic for over 30 years. You never really know where rock bottom is. Some people never realize they are there.

The great thing about Daly is that people see him as the guy on the tour you would love to play a round with. You know you'd have a good time on the course and off. In meeting him, he is one of the most likeable guys in sports.

it is sad, but humorous at the same time..when i saw it on sportscenter this morning i had to just laugh....passing out at a hooters, being asked to leave multiple times and refusing....eberything together just made it funny to me....the excessive drinking is not what im laughing at...i have close friends with drinking problems and by no means am i laughing at that...but the way it was reported deserved a laugh!

Really sad-alcohol ruins entire lives and has got a stranglehold on JD, who I'm sure is a great guy and a blast to be around......when he is sober. Unfortunately, the odds of him beating down his demons without any accountability and/or acceptance WITHIN HIMSELF, are tragically slim-and he is obviously nowhere near that. I will pray hard for him, while at the same time, do everything I can to get the word out that HOOTERS is simply a despicable franchise for promoting irresponsible drinking by USING a very sick person REPEATEDLY as their poster boy. Another example of how disgustingly important the "almighty dollar" is to most companies-an absolute shame and outrage!
