To steal a line from Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News, "Ain't no party like a Grand Blanc party."
Three cheers to the organizers of the Buick Open who had the brilliant idea, and cajones, to pair rockin' golfer John Daly with Detroit native rocker Kid Rock.
I'm sure this is no surprise to anyone, but their 18-hole round was more party than practice for Daly. Kid Rock drank beer for most of the round, had a few ladies amongst his posse and spent as much time signing autographs with Big John as they did actually playing golf. It was the largest gallery the event has ever seen, a gallery that stayed with the two stars (is Rock still a star?) for the entirety of their lengthy six hour round.
At one point Kid Rock announced he'd give the loudest cheering fan tickets to his next concert. Kid Rock dished out eight tickets in total.
But the highlight was when Daly grabbed Kid's tall can of Budweiser and used it as his tee. Daly smashed both the ball and the can, apparently sending the former 300 yards further than the latter.
Honestly, the only surprise was the John didn't shotgun the beer immediately after his follow through. Chances of Daly showing up late to his tee-time this morning: 5/2.
A rockin' good time [DetNews]
