Jon Lester Throws No-Hitter vs. Royals (Video)
Cancer Survivor Pitches Feel Good Story of Baseball's Season (Even If It Was Just the Royals)

When throwing a no-hitter is, at best, only your second greatest accomplishment as a 24-year-old, you know you've achieved some special things.

Red Sox Jon Lester survived cancer that forced him to miss the end of 2006 and the first part of 2007 and tonight he tossed a no-hitter against the Kansas City Royals. It's the 18th no-hitter in Boston's history.

The line: 9 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB and 9 K.

What a special story. Chills for me when the information popped across the bottom of the Cubs game that he was through eight inning without a hit.

I can't empathize, but I imagine after overcoming a scary disease, Kansas City Royals batters don't seem so overwhelming.

Boston 7, Kansas City 0

hey, I take offense to that........the Royals are actually playing well this year
the Cubs would be a minor league team if they were in the AL

Royals are the 11th best hitting team this year... Really impressive no-hitter.

Hey Fishman, I am not a deadsox fan, but White Sox fan, BUT I think you are in trouble because living in Boston, this Deadsox pitching debt is remarkable, you got Lester which wasn't a fluke only 24, Buckholtz 23, Beckett 28, Bowden 21, & Mastersion 22, these guys are all proven they can win in Majors, if they get consistant which I see no reason why they can't with the stuff they have, only Bowden has not yet pitched in majors & he is the one guy they cannot wait to bring up but not yet, plus they have all kinds of young studs for position players
