Keith Olbermann Has Forgotten All About Sports
Didn't You Used To Be A Sportscaster?

You may just recall that Keith Olbermann was a sportscaster for 20 years and spent 5 of those years as an anchor at ESPN before moving to MSNBC. And he did those spots on Monday Night Football to boot. But apparently Olbermann now follows sports about as closely as I follow politics - as in not at all.

Chauncey Billups was at the Gore-Obama rally in Detroit last night to introduce Obama, and Olbermann botched it by saying Billups played for the Nuggets. Considering what a nightmare the Nuggets are, I expect the Obama campaign to accuse MSNBC of smear tactics.

Oh well, at least Olbermann didn't confuse Chauncey for Pacman Jones. Fox News will be more than happy to do that.

Chauncey is from Denver and used to play for the Nuggets, he just got his notes mixed up.

And Olbermann was on Fox Sports for a few years after ESPN before MSNBC.  I'm sure even he'll admit he doesn't follow the NBA too closely, but he's one of the biggest baseball historians alive.
Yeah, having done some TV stuff once before, I'm well aware of how easy it is for people to screw up on air. Incredibly easy. Still funny though.

And I remember reading about how Olbermann as a kid used to memorize box scores of games. Dude is baseball nut. Which naturally would mean he probably could care less about baseball.

Would you want Chauncey back in Denver? I would like to see him, but not at the expense of giving up Anthony.

Its funny though the Nuggets are a nightmare that won 50 games. Sure they got swept, but it was by the West Conf champs. Beats being in the lottery in a weak draft, right Warrior fan

Not to start anything but the Warriors finished only 2 games behind the Nuggets, won as many playoff games this year as the Nuggets, and get a pick 6 spots higher.

I do agree that trading Melo would be an awful decision. If, I know it is a big if, he figures it out, I could see him leading a contender the way Paul Pierce is leading the Celtics now. He has to figure it out first.

My buddy caught Chauncey at DIA the summer his last contract was up, and he said he really wants to come back to Denver but the money they were offering was laughable.  They never should have let him go.

I'm emo over Melo right now, but I don't want to give up yet either.  Trading AI and Kenyon for Billups and Wallace would be awesome though.
I do agree. I am rooting for Carmelo to become what eveyone in denver wants him to. Getting rod of Martin and that ridiculous contract would be nice. I would love to see Billups back in a Nugget uni.

Then why root for a team to make they playoffs. I did not want them to lose. But they did I knew they probably would. When the playoffs started nobody knew what was gonna happen. Remember just a year ago GS beat a 67 win Dallas team. But you cant win a title if you dont make it to the playoffs. You think the Warriors would not have traded places with Denver if given the chance?

Yeah, because the Warriors have fire and would have won a game.  The Nuggets are quitters, have no chemistry, and won't work for the current coach.  It's one of the worst run franchises in sports.  There needs to be a wholesale change in the front office.
As bad as the Lakers are at defending ball penetration the Warriors might have given the Lakers a real scare.

I guess I  want to believe this isnt possible, when it is. But should the Nuggs have  fired Kiki? Maybe I just bought into the AI/Melo can work together idea.

Sounds like Keith's NBA knowledge is on par with his wisdom on politics.

Wait a minute!  Are we saying it is ok that Olberman "got his notes mixed up" on this?  Chauncey hasn't played for Denver for years, and wasn't much when he did!  In Detroit, he has been an All-Star, won a championship and was the Finals MVP!

Just a piss-poor fact mistake.
