Rather than dwell on the sad story of Eight Belles, I'd rather focus on the most uplifting highlight of the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Tom Hammond regularly makes a fool of himself during fall Saturday's slobbering all over Notre Dame football and their courageous losing efforts. On this spring Saturday, however, he made a boob of himself.
"Sonia with Jacob ... with those implants ... enabling him to hear the roar of the crowd."
How about those implants, Tom? Splendid.

Did TMZ get the joke?  Was it even a joke?  Does silicone amplify sound?  Haley Joel Osment is deaf?

What's the deal with those 'implants' anyway?  It's 2008, you think they'dve invented something more discreet.  He might as well have two phonographs duct-taped to his head.  Especially with Kentucky Derby and the other kind of 'implants' money, just get him another pair of real ears.  Forrest Gump's leg braces were more high tech than whatever those are.
