Kevin Pittsnogle, Former West Virginia All American, Is Now A School Teacher
Remember Kevin Pittsnogle? He's Now 300 Pounds And Lives In A Trailer.
Once my favorite college basketball player in the world, Kevin Pittsnogle from West Virginia is now 300 pounds and lives in a double wide trailer with his wife who is a bank teller.  It's not exactly what I'd hoped for, nor do I think it's what Pittsnogle hoped for.

Now, at 24, he is a middle school teacher in his hometown. He is also an unpaid assistant coach for a high school basketball team. He bowls in leagues three nights a week and occasionally plays bingo at Big Bucks Bingo. His wife, Heather, is a bank teller. They have two children and live in a double-wide trailer, and together they wonder how much appetite they have for uprooting their lives again so Pittsnogle can have one more chance at a basketball career.

Pittsnogle was never drafted by the NBA, and has spent time over the last few years in the CBA, the NBDL, and various other leagues. At the 2006 NCAA Tournament in Detroit, Michigan at the Palace of Auburn Hills during a late free throw shot I even shouted out my sports love for Pittsnogle as you can see on the Youtube video below.

Yes I was intoxicated by nonetheless you get the respect I had for a player as uniquely odd as Kevin Pittsnogle from West Virginia.

I still have sports love for Pittsnogle as he was one of a kind.  What other goofy looking tattooed up big man could hit the three and big shots better than Pittsnogle?  He was a redneck hero unmatched in the state of West Virginia.  Now that he lives in a double-wide and has ballooned to 300 pounds only furthers his legend.  Pittsnogle's story would make any West Virginian happy to know they could almost make a mark in the NBA before moving into their double-wide trailer.

Hey, at least the guy is teaching and coaching, which is a decent & admirable profession to be in. It's not like he's got a liquor bottle wrapped up in a brown bag and living under a bridge somewhere. Just goes to show how the vast majority of collegiate athletes do not end up making it in the "big time". Best wishes to him!! :)

I remember him giving Louisville the blues in the tournament, but we still came from 20 down to win the game on my birthday.  Best wishes to him and his family.

Certainly true, however there is still a "Only in West F###ing Virginia" aspect to this story that makes it humorous.

I gotta believe (yes I'm talkin out my arse) ..I just have to believe he doesn't want to play overseas. I remember Pittsnogle and know that some team in Europe would LOVE to have a versatile big man.

I will always hate him as a basketball player for being part of the West Virginia team that beat Wake Forest in 2OT of the 2nd Round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament.  That was the last game with Chris Paul in a WFU uniform, and the last game that WFU played in a NCAA Tournament Game.

That was one of the better college games I've ever seen.  The whole 2005 tournament was awesome.

Europe?!  What about the NBA?!  When in shape he's better than 1/2 the 11th and 12th men on the league's rosters.  He just decided to pursue a more "Deer Urine Country" version of the American dream, where Slim Jims,  Wonder Bread,  Moon Pies and RC Cola are the food groups.  Fun is not being made because he can't play professional hoops, but because he can and he's chosen the "My Name is Earl" route.

300 pounds at his height isn't all that ridiculous. Add 10 inches onto your typical guy's frame and I'm sure there'd be a lot of 300 pounders walking around.

Pittsnoggle supposedly has a thyroid condition that has helped his weight issue.  My mom has a thyroid issue and if anything she's to skinny.  Different yolks for different folks I guess.
